Welcome

The organising committee of the EBPS 2026 Workshop "Integrating New Perspectives on Punishment for Learning, Decision Making, and Psychopathology" cordially invite you to join us for the biennial workshop of the European Behavioural Pharmacology Society which takes place August 25 and 26, 2026 at the Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

This workshop will highlight cutting-edge research into the behavioral and neural mechanisms of reinforcement learning, with a particular focus on the role of punishment. The program will cover groundbreaking advances in dissecting the specific neural circuits and neurochemical systems that process aversive outcomes. We will also explore how computational models are refining the way punishment signals are integrated into the cost-benefit analyses that guide our decisions.

The workshop will also include panels consisting of experts from behavioral, systems, computational, and pharmacological perspectives, spanning both human and animal models. These sessions will aim to foster cross-disciplinary synthesis and address the translational relevance of these mechanisms for disorders characterized by disrupted punishment processing, including addiction, anxiety, depression, and OCD.

Please feel free to reach out to the members of the organizing committee if you have any questions and check this website regularly for new updates.

We hope to see you in Amsterdam!
