”Flemish Arts Centre De Brakke Grond has been the expert on contemporary, innovative Flemish performing arts, visual art and music in the Netherlands since 1981. As a performance/exhibition venue and networking organisation, we initiate and realise programmes and collaborations, both in our building in Amsterdam and at other locations in the Netherlands. We support Flemish artists with a daring artistic vision in establishing a sustainable artistic practice in the Netherlands, offering a different perspective to Dutch audiences and professionals. De Brakke Grond: venue, sparring partner and quality label in one.”

Importantly, please be aware that the public transport and train systems are very efficient in the Netherlands. This means that you can feel comfortable looking for hotels a little further from the venue and then use the metro or tram.
The venue is just 10-15 min walking distance from the central station (even less in case you decide to rent a bike for the days of the meeting). Should Amsterdam itself not offer what you are looking for, we encourage you to look in the surrounding cities since these can very easily be reached by train. For example Utrecht is an 18-min train ride away; Haarlem is 15 min away, Hilversum and Almere only 20 min. Trains are reliable, frequent and efficient (many Dutch people use them for their daily commute to work) so, even though it may increase your travel time, these places will surely offer considerably cheaper lodging.
